Check Socket or Plaster Model Preparation

We’re striving to make the perfect prosthesis for your project and we need your help to get us off to a great start.

A well marked check socket that arrives in good condition can make a huge difference in the quality of the end product and the time it takes to complete (i.e. faster turn around).

When you’re preparing your check socket or plaster model please make sure to follow our guidelines below to get the best results:

Markings

Using a No. 2 pencil, please be sure to clearly mark any desired features on your check socket or plaster model. Please, do NOT use a Sharpie or any permanent markers on the model, as it can transfer onto the silicone. Some examples of marking types are shown below. (This is not an exhaustive list of features.)

PACKAGING (for plaster models)

Package a plaster model with a layer of absorbent toweling around it, then bubble wrap each plaster model and place in a box lined with packing peanuts or equivalent. This will prevent your plaster model from being damaged during shipment and requiring repairs* when received.

* Repairs to plaster models will incur additional costs and add to your turn around time.
